A Night in Tuscany

"Madam, you have an appointment with the lieutenant later this afternoon. Shall I reschedule?"

I grimaced, "Rescheduling isn't necessary, Byrnes. I know what he wants."

Idly, I set myself by the window, watching the people from below going by their day to day lives. If only I hadn't done what I did, then I could be like them.

"As you wish, Madam. Lieutenant will be arriving in an hour."

"Perfect. Now Brynes, be a dear and kindly grab the suitcase under my bed, will you? Let's go on a trip."

"Madam, I'm not quite sure I understand."

I let out a salty laugh, "We don't need to reschedule the meeting, no. But that doesn't mean we're going to be here when he does come."

Blessed Byrnes' eyes lit up fully understanding the order given to him. He pondered for a moment, perhaps deciding his fate, he was always the thoughtful sort. 

"I'll be with you every step of the way, Madam. Let me get our belongings."

I didn't know if that was out of pity or his sense of responsibility, but regardless, it will be the safest. Lieutenant Hank had always been a brash, corrupted asshole. The only thing holding him back from putting me in bars is the fact that I've been helping him raise his family. But like the Tuscan Sun, sunlight comes and goes, and in this instance, it was my money.

Time to get away with murder for the tenth time.
